Good stuff, Ty =)

I wasn't the hugest fan of Grandia II, but I see myself picking this up when it comes out. The battle system sounds really cool, and I feel like it's been too long since I finished a good RPG (last one was DQ8 in November, heh).

By the way, that button graphic is really cool :P

I liked the theme song at first, but it got old soon.  It kinda reminds me of Avril Lavinge (spelling?), actually.  Maybe that's why I hate it.

When I make an RPG, the main theme is gonna be "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters, and it's gonna play every time the main character kicks an ass.

Thank you. Just wanted to say that before...
You know how Cast aka Andrew hates the name Andy with the frothing mad passion of a supernova? Yeah, that pails in comparison to the loathing I feel when my name is reduced by 3/5.

I really enjoy it, but I really enjoyed Grandia II's battle system. If you liked that one, then you'll like this one.

It won't be for everyone, but I like it as much as I did the PSX Lunar intro. Of course, while I will claim to have good taste in video gaming, I will not make such assertation in the musical realm.

Looking forward to this, the impressions are a good sign. Wonder if the game will be ridiculously easy like the first 2.

I hope this one has an ending that never ends as well.  XD I thought I was at the end of the game 4 or 5 times before I finally was. Then it was 8am the next day and I passed out. I'm looking forward to this one, but I'll wait a while before I pick it up. I don't want to be bit by the rush like I was with Magna Carta...

I just hope they correct the two problems that plagued the first two games.

1. The first game dragged on about four hours longer than it should have.

2. The second game was so emo they could have had Good Charlotte and Linkin Park do the soundtrack and not seem out of place.

If the game is reasonably concise and doesn't overload on angst for angst's sake, we have a winner.

What's with this "emo" term that everyone is using? I looked it up, and think I understand, but it feels overused, and besides, most Japanese stuff is highly emotional. It's almost a given, and one of the most catchy things about JP games and animation.....

Anyhow, I loved the first game. The female-general-battle-theme was awesome! The second game had great characters, but a some things bugged me about it.

III sounds great, looking forward to it^^

It is overused, particularly by people who think you shouldn't actually have feelings, like sadness, or remorse, or pain, or sympathy...you know, because humans shouldn't feel anything. Characters who feel nothing always make for those awesome, epic stories that everyone loves.  :P

I didn't think Grandia II was "emo." It's a Grandia game with brightly-colored graphics and upbeat music from Iwadare.

Finally, there's a plane race sequence that seems a lot like the anime Last Exile, and that imagery is only exacerbated by the first two main characters and the fact that Johnny Yong Bosch voice acts both Yuki and Claus.

Okay, this just makes my day.  Can't wait.

Yeah here's hoping that Grandia 3's ending takes a few pages from Grandia 2's book :).  I love when they do stuff like that.  Character resolution is a very good thing.

Sorry, I should elaborate.  Grandia II just felt like it was heaping big ole' piles of angst for angst's sake.  Not to say a game should be syrupy happy (another problem I had with Grandia I), but the emotional balance needed to be fine tuned a bit more.

I  hate how the big name sites are able to get away with breaking embargos.

Anyway, my feelings towards this guy's review/journalism skills: after writing reviews with no first person and as little second person as possible for a while, seeing both of those things in vast quantities gets on my nerves.
