First, our brand freakin' new section is right here, baby!

Included in the column are 12 gameplay screens and 8 dead-sexy character art pieces (actual sexiness may vary) from Shenmue Online, also findable right here

We're gonna be adding stuff to this over the next few week, too, so check back in the future.  Like a methamphetamine addict, we'll always be tweakin', so send me an email with ideas and stuff if you have 'em.  And community buzz from your favorite MMOs, your fan sites-- all kinds of stuff is welcome.  We've started a revolution, kids.  We want this to be a very fan-driven section of RPGamer, and only you can make it so!

Thanks for reading!

First, new section:
Nice to see a new section, though I wonder if will fall victim to the same things that plague others.  (Namely, lack of anyone caring, it seems)  Good luck with it, though.  Really.  :)

Shenmue:O
Shenmue:O looks pretty, but I don't think it will work.  Even from the mouth of Yu Suzuki, Virtua Fighter + Keyboard/Mouse = BUH?!^2.  I could be wrong, though...but we'll see.  Now, Virtua_Fighter+Controller+little lag+multiple_fighters=GOOOOOD.  How likely is that, though?

Wake me when Shenmue III is announced.

I was actually surprised when I had first heard about Warhammer rising from the ashes.  Games Workshop isnt backing it monetarily anymore, so I guess we'll have to see what direction it goes in.  IMO they should have gone for the 40k series to adapt into MMO format...the genre has far too many fantasy-based MMOs, and vanilla Warhammer will have a hard time being heard amongst the shuffle of WoW, Vanguard, and EQ2 unless it steps out with some really nice features (And some better graphics wouldnt hurt...no 2 foot long codpieces please).

I'm surprised you didnt mention the WoW open beta starting pretty soon as well in the article.  The servers are going to be down for the majority of the 14th and 15th, and most signs are pointing to the open beta begining soon after, especially since the not-so-cryptic message of being unable to create a closed beta account after this time was revealed.  It will be nice to have a flood of newbs in the game...low-end tradeskill raw materials (especially cloths) have horrible inflation atm ;/

Warhammer looks like it will have a rough time doing that anyway.  Most of the talk I've seen on MMO-oriented message boards and in certain communities has been about whether people are more excited for Everquest II or World of Warcraft.

And about the beta testing, I guess that's what happens when I don't write things down.  Slipped my mind apparently.  >_<
Not to fear.  I'm sure World of Warcraft will be getting plenty of attention from this column in the future  :)

At a random guess...

Warhammer is really going after the not insignificantly sized Warhammer fanbase.  Which, quite possibly, is not currently playing any MMORPG or is represented on those types of boards.  Not that this is any guarentee but I wouldn't be quick to count that out based on the current view of the MMO community.

I think you're misinterpreting me.  I only mean that the interaction sections (which, you know, need those who interact, not just readers) other than Q&A, POV, and Eds haven't gotten much reader attention lately.  RPGuides is gone for now.  Fanart, Theme Central, and Fiction only seem to be updated on a monthly/bi-monthly basis, and I can only sum it up to lack of anything coming into them.  Sound test, while updating frequently (go Trick!), hasn't updated with much lately, compared to even 6 months ago, I think.

That's all I meant.  Don't take me out of context, please.
