Wow, lots of people seem divided on this one. o_0 People at other websites are complaining that Link's Awakening DX on the eShop is five dollars overpriced.

Those people are crazy. Link's Awakening DX is a great game worthy of almost any price.

Um, $6? That's like half of what it would cost me to buy the cartridge in a store over here. I'd agree that this is more than a fair price for that gem.

Not worth it for me. But only because I still have my cart. If I didn't, five or six dollars is totally reasonable.

It's because of the common perception that old games must be cheaper than new ones. Since DX has been out for thirteen years, and its visuals are equivalent to that of a ten-cent app, it must be appropriately priced like a ten-cent app: either free, or close to free.

They seem to forget the other thing...

old game = rare = slightly expensive

Do note there are exceptions to the rule, and finding them may be easy.

not to mention the fact that some people have gotten used to emulators for their vintage gaming needs, it's tough to go from a massive library of free to small library at $6 per game.

see also why no one pays to watch shonen jump anime.

$6 for any really good game is a bargain.
