The dwarves in Magical Starsign are virtually identical to the ones in the Mana games. Though, since that game has some sci-fi elements, the dwarves in that game are master engineers that can build and modify rocket ships. I can't think of any particularly unique elves, unless Phantasy Star's Newmans count.
Also, I think a palm tree Ent would look like a larger version of this (and with fewer heads).

This is pretty funny. I'll agree with Strawberry Eggs defense of Numans but outside of that dwarves are the best.

My favorite elves of all times are Kirkis and Sylvina from Suikoden. I never really liked dwarves, but I liked how they always lived in cool caves.
The power of the dwarf increases with the size of its beard.
The elf on the other hand is powerful although he doesn't have a beard at all.
