Great one once again. I might add about the Monster hunter games, that there is a Monster Hunter Tri, on the Wii, that you can play online and meet with anybody that play online, and it's great fun!!
Always enjoy all the experience in life, you might gain a level or two.

    Putting the rat in coopeRATion

I've played a little Dragon Quest IX multiplayer and it did seem to work quite well, each player has their own screen which means all your commands can be selected quite quickly.
Likewise FFVI gets around the issue of waiting just by having the Active Time Battle. So I'm not sure how well a normal console turn-based game would work. They might as well leave out that option and just let the players pass the controller around instead!

You say Diablo 3 mulitiplayer will drop all the same loot, for every single player? But that's no fun... They should make it more like Zelda:Four Swords, so when a good item drops you can pick up your ally and throw them down a pit.

The only RPG I've ever enjoyed playing multiplayer was Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast. While hacking was an annoying problem, it was great to be able to take your offline character and jump into an online game. The multiplayer combat also felt more strategic than Diablo 2; although, the really good loot was a lot harder to come by in PSO.
