I hear that Pokémon Conquest would be easy through the main story, while harder challenges will appear post-game (or DLC or something like that).

pokemon conquest is between luminous arc, and ff tactics for difficulty
the end game is very very lengthy with 33 side missions
No DLC, though. It's a regular DS game, and those don't support DLC.
