RPG Backtrack: Episode 84 - 108 Stars in the Heavens

Enjoy a scenic tour of just some of the locations various Stars of Destiny call home. Start in the Scarlet Moon Empire, move to the Jowston City-State, and finish with a romp through the Grasslands. Excessive attention may be paid to ducks along the way.
Kobolds and octopi? Not as catchy.
'The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread.' So this is it, huh folks?

With Suikoden Day celebrated on 11/30 and this episode, I have had a great time remembering Suikoden games.

If only the plays of Suikoden III had continued on in the other games... At least they kept the letters and the investigations. If Konami wanted to put effort into remaking the first game I'd add those right away.

I can't get the duck tales theme out of my head now, thanks guys.

Why hasn't Suikoden 2 been released on the PSN yet? I would very much like to play it but don't have the money to buy a disc copy.

I hereby hang my head in shame for being responsible for the Duck Tales segment.

    Suikoden is the bestest, though.

I'm partial to the moon music (and its remixes) from Duck Tales for the NES.

Next time there's a Suikoden backtrack, I want to be on it!

Konami simply doesn't care anymore. I highly doubt Suikoden II will ever be released as PSOne classic.

I wonder how much of the quality of an RPG rests on the small moments?

Might solve a mystery...Or rewrite history! DUCK TALES! WOOHOO!

maybe We should do Darkwing Duck's theme instead =p

Nice episode guys, though the sound was kinda spotty here and there. Suikoden Two is probably one of my favorite games of all time, and has one of the few stories that actually made me feel like I might tear up. Ive never been able to find a good copy of 3, but I might try to rectify that someday. I have Four, but its....not what I expected. Wont get into it since this wasnt a Suikoden 4-5 episode.
    ive got candy

I'm looking forward to playing this series. I managed to get a copy of Suikoden 2 for around $75 a few months ago. So now that I have the whole series, I'm planning to play through it after I finish the Wild ARMs series.

The fangirling was my favorite part of the podcast this week, it's always good to have someone whose genuinely excited for the topic.

That's a good question. I'd argue it's of utmost importance, especially if the game insists on sticking to safe elements like "save the world from an evil empire" or "party is made of amnesiac orphans raised by a corrupt church."

The Suikoden games shy away from the worst excesses of big, familiar plots. I'm pointing this criticism elsewhere, for the most part.

Oh Suikoden how I love you. I played this game so much back in the day. I remember me and my friend had separate files and he freaked out when I had Gremio alive. Also in Suikoden 2 there was a guy you could only get if you got to certain parts of the game in x amount of time. If I remember right he looked like the moonlight knight from Sailor Moon.

Darkwing is coming soon...very soon. I like it more than Duck Tales, and it never leaves my iPod. My wife often hears me say, "Let's get dangerous!" hahahaah.
