I don't follow pokemon. But I thought it was weird how the day they announced X and Y there was like a rush of fanart for the starter pokemon on Deviantart. I guess the starters are like the star characters for the game. But the game is about catching monsters, and the starters are given to you, so who cares about them? I figured the Rare Pokemon, The X-deer thing and the Y-bird, would get more attention.
It's not weird. There was fanart of the starters within 15 minutes of the reveal in the Poke-Direct.
(The time to, um, unsavory fan art was 45 minutes. Not sure whether to be disgusted or impressed.)
