    New Final Fantasy XIV Trailers Arrive

    Square Enix has new classes, jobs, and user interfaces to show off. There's so much information to soak up that it requires multiple videos.

    Wait... something happened. Did Square Enix just sell out by re-titling an an action RPG "escort" title as a numbered entry in the series?

    I think you're thinking of FFXV, and yeah I see your point btw.

    I did just get my beta code for the PS3 version of the game and just got finished installing it. Let see if this badboy has improved.

    Hai.
    The game runs beautifully on a triple monitor setup as well.
    There are so many small details in the environment that it's a kind of eyegasm seeing it all.
    I played 16 hours today. I am a fan, yes, but a game still has to be good for that.

    Played the beta for couple of hours today. Finally being able to go outside of Gridania made the game so much more enjoyable. Very polished and sharp game, no doubt.

    Oh yeah... wrong game. I read about it on another site and them hopped over here. Don't get me wrong, I'll still try it. But it saddens me a little.

    I played beta a little bit, not enough to sink my teeth in. I kinda wish they'd ditch the classes and just have jobs...

    FFXIV did/does one major thing right (even at launch) that FFXI: the free mixing and matching of abilities. At first I enjoyed classes because I associated that system with the mix-and-match gameplay. But now I realize that there's no reason that same system can't be used with jobs. The ideal balance would be to nix classes, and allow ability and trait mixing of job abilities but not all job abilities (Monk's can't use Dragoon's "Jump" skill, but could get still get their "Accuracy Bonus" trait). I would be fine with that.
